TAP-IN Program of American Health Initiative

Senior corporate executive to provide leadership for the core elements of the national TAP-IN Program of American Health Initiative which connects retired health professionals to volunteer opportunities serving the uninsured. This innovative program reaches out to the hundreds of thousands of retired and near- retired physicians, nurses and other health professionals to help address a serious social problem - 47 million uninsured Americans. The Chief Program Officer will direct all elements of the program relating to the recruitment, engagement, and development of health professionals for over 30 select Free Clinics in five states over the next three years. Managed growth to over 25 states is envisioned.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and manage a "Professional Services" capacity with field representatives in each of seven initial target markets. This capacity is intended to provide a "high touch" dimension to the program, assuring a volunteer experience that is beneficial to the professionals and the clinics in which they serve.

  • Develop and implement educational and training programs tailored to the unique needs of these experienced professionals.

  • Oversee new market development and clinic relations - managed by a Director of Field Operations. These two functional areas, "Professional Services" and "Field Operations", are at the core of the TAP-IN program.

 Requirements:

  • Must be both experienced and entrepreneurial

  • 10 years in managing and motivating a team that can meet clear objectives

  • An entrepreneurial spirit that will help grow this dynamic program

  • Independent thought, action, and innovation are necessary.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professional

  • Ability to forge strategic partnerships with professional organizations

  • * An existing network of national level healthcare organizations/leaders is preferred.

The position reports directly to a program Co-Director and will work collaboratively with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Development Officer.

TAP-IN Program of American Health Initiative

TAP-IN seeks individuals for each metro area to work directly with the professionals of the national TAP-IN Program of American Health Initiative, which connects retired health professionals to volunteer opportunities serving the uninsured in Free Clinics. This innovative program reaches out to the hundreds of thousands of retired and near- retired physicians, nurses and other health professionals to help address a serious social problem - 47 million uninsured Americans. The Volunteer Engagement Specialist will provide a “high touch” dimension to the TAP-IN program, effectively engaging with these experienced healthcare professionals to assure a volunteer experience that is rewarding to them and beneficial to the clinics and patients they serve.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Represent TAP-IN as the professional volunteer’s advocate, working to facilitate their effective placement, engagement, and retention within the TAP-IN Select Clinics in the area.

  • Monitor the professional volunteer’s progress, responding effectively to any concerns expressed by the professional or the clinic.

  • Assist in educational and orientation programs for the professional volunteers and clinic leadership.

  • Understand and listen to the professional volunteers to enable informed contributions to TAP-IN program development, marketing and new program initiatives.

  • Serves as TAP-IN representative to the community as appropriate.

 Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred and 3-5 years experience working with healthcare professionals / volunteers

  • Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clinic leadership

  • Ability to communicate comfortably with the community through one-on-one meetings and public speaking engagements

  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively with management

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.

The position reports directly to the Director of Professional Services and will work collaboratively with the Director of Field Operations, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Development Officer.
